This Letterbox is now MISSING but the Chapel is so beautiful that I hope you visit it anyway! The Chapel on the Rock is a historic site located on Highway 7 outside of Allenspark, Colorado, 11 miles south of the Rocky Mountains National Park entrance at Estes Park. Visit the website at www.sanitmalo.org/chapel.htm
Begin your search by parking in either parking lot at the Chapel. If you are lucky enough to get a spot near the church then your journey is shorter but you may miss some wonderful views of the chapel that can be seen from the overflow parking lot. Make your way to the stairs at the front of the Chapel. When facing the Chapel you will see a small trail departing from the right of the stairs (~ 2 parking spaces to the right). Follow the trail along the stream a short distance until you see a small trail to the left. You will be at the back of the chapel now. Head up the rocks (~ 15-20 steps) and there will be a waist-high boulder nearby. Look under it and you will find Sue’s Letterbox hidden beneath several smaller rocks. There will be two stamps and a poem in the box. Please leave both stamps in the box when you are finished with them (this box does not have a hitch hiker).
