***Update September 2020: One Box remains at this location.***

The Norman Bird Sanctuary is a wildlife refuge with over 300 acres and 7 miles of hiking trails.

There is one letterbox left hidden at the sanctuary. Head out from the visitors center down the main trail. You will follow the blue gravel till Red Maple pond. Cross the bridge, & when the trail forks, head right onto Gray Craig trail. You will cross some low lying wetlands and a rickety old boardwalk. A ways after, you will reach the 'loop.' Head left and up. Eventually you will reach the top of the hill and the ground will even out. Cross one puddingstone outcropping (puddingstone is a type of stone found in this area) and stop when you reach the second area of puddingstone. In the fall you can see a view with water to the East. Turn west(left!),and you will find a small outcropping of puddingstone about waist height. Climb up and turn left, southwest, to the Grey Crag Letterbox hidden on top of the rock in a makeshift cairn. Complete the loop and head back through the wetland. Instead of returning to the pond, you will head along the Gray Craig connector trail. At the end, you will see a magnificent beech tree, head left back towards the pond to return OR take a right at the Hanging Rock trailhead.

Enjoy one of the best views of the ocean by Sachuest. There is a second letterbox out here, and you can find directions for it on the Atlas Quest website for letterboxing.
