Wyckoff Environmental Center

Wyckoff Environmental Center is located on Crescent Ave in Wyckoff in Franklin Lakes NJ.

BOXES WERE STOLEN! :(

Letterbox #1 Oak Leaf- 5 minutes to first box
NO LONGER AT SITE!!! ENJOY THE TRAIL!!!!!

Park in front of the Visitors Center and begin walking on the bricked path which takes you past the exotic bird exhibit. Continue until you connect with a paved path. You will pass a deer exhibit (check out the pie bald deer) on your left as you continue until you see the white “Welcome” sign. Proceed straight on the gravel path and stairs. On your left and right are signs describing the different kinds of trees found at the environmental center. Look for the first letterbox at the base of the tree marked “White Oak Tree” on your left.

Letterbox #2 Tulip Tree Leaf - 10 minutes to second box

Go back to the nature trail and continue up the trail. You will cross over a small trestle bridge (over a seasonal swamp). Make sure you stay on the main path.
After 10 minutes, you will come upon the skunk cabbage marker on your right. With the skunk cabbage marker to your back, find the reading for 330 degrees with your compass. Check among the roots of one of the trees matching that reading for box #2. The tree is located about 6 paces off the path on your right.

Letterbox #3 Maple Leaf - 5 minutes to third box
NO LONGER AT SITE!!! ENJOY THE TRAIL

Continue in the same direction on the nature path for 5 minutes until you come to the Red Maple sign on your left. You will see a fallen log stretching away from
you. About ½ way along the length of the log is box #3. It should be covered with bark - there seems to be plenty of bark nearby to recover it. One more minute brings you back to the start of the looping nature trail.
