This box is in the beautiful seaside town of Marblehead that is easily reached via Route 1A or Route 114. Once you have arrived locate the Unitartian Universalist Church at 28 Mugford Street. Mugford Street can be reached from both Washington and Elm Streets.
Park any where along Mugford, Washington or Elm Streets. At the church enter the small path to the right of the main doors of the church. Stop and linger at the Peace Pole on your right. Take careful note of all the languages that state “May Peace Prevail on Earth” icluding the small Braille plaque. Continue on the flagstone path, past the brick patio on your left. A few steps further and the path splits, follow the one on the right. This path will lead you into the lovely Circle of Remembrance. Sit down on either of the two benches. In these peaceful surroundings breathe, relax and entertain your own thoughts about peace and those, including yourself, who have brought some peace to this world.
When you are ready, look across the Circle to the arbor. To the left is a small evergreen shrub. The Peace Box is cleverly hidden beneath its branches. Reflect a moment on the words of the stamp and take to heart its message.
Enjoy the garden, read the gravestones. While you are here visit the Town Landing at the foot of State Street. In the summer this picturesque harbor contains a great number of sailboats. From the Landing you can go left to Crocker Park or right to Fort Sewall. The original painting of the famous Spirit of ’76 is located in the Town Hall on Washington Street. Foodie’s Feast, also on Washington Street, is a small café that has good luncheon fare at reasonable prices. Marblehead is a great walking town, both charming and historic. Enjoy your visit!

May all beings be peaceful of heart.

Sue and Sandra.
