MISSING 2/2008
This box is placed to honor all the squirrels we feed whenever we come to visit this park. Proceed to Monte Sano State Park. When you pass through the 'gate' where you pay, you want to take an immediate right into the area with the picnic areas and playground. You will want to visit the playground and find amoung the trees one of the older pieces of equipment. It is a climbing metal structure with 'fireman poles' in the center. Near this piece of equipment is a large tree that forms a triangle between the new part of the playground as one point, the older piece of equipment as one point and the tree as the third point. At the base of the tree on the side facing away from the playground is a hole. Reach kind of far in to the right side of the hole and you will find "Squirrly". Reach carefully as all kinds of mammals and or reptiles might at times find this hole a comfortable home! Please replace and hide well. There are two other letterboxes in this park hidden by us--"Free Spirit" & "Sun/Moon/Stars" if you wish to find all three. This is a short walk from the car and is kid and dogs-on-leash friendly.
