This box was marked as attempted so I checked on it today (1/23/08). It is still there and all is good with it.

HISTORY:
Swindall and Who’d-a-thought-it was once two of present day Van’s past names! On May15, 1927, actions were put into motion that would bring changes to not only Van, but also all of Van Zandt County! Many tests were taken and the outcome indicated a defined up lift with its highest point in the vicinity of the town of Van. Location of Jarman 37 No.1 was completed for initial production of 147 barrels an hour! The original well is still producing oil to this very day. Be sure to visit Van’s Oil Museum on HWY 110 when you are in town!

DIRECTIONS: While you are in Van, TX, come on and find the OIL BOOM! Go to Chestnut Street, to the Van Community Center/ Ball-Park. Pull into the soccer parking lot past the community center. Park by the **LARGE WOODEN** Van Soccer Association Sign. Enter going toward the sidewalk, and then go to the left following the path. YOU SHOULD HAVE PASSED 1 CORNER, 1 S-CURVE, THEN GO TO THE 2ND CORNER AFTER THE S-CURVE. You can stop and there are trees in front of and to the left of you. To your left is a large oak tree. There will be the box on the right side of the tree. LOOK OUT FOR DANGEROUS ANIMALS /INSECTS! HAPPY SEARCHING!
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursday evenings and Saturdays are really bad days to go because of soccer practices and games during game seasons!
