I removed all boxes on 12/6/11. They need updating. When the new boxes are placed, I'll let you know. For now, you can still enjoy the hike...

Getting there: from rte 97, turn onto Pingree Farm Rd. in Georgetown MA. Follow to end of paved road and park by kiosk. The trail is about 2 miles long; should take less than an hour to complete. Can be muddy at times and lot of bugs in the summer.

The Bat
Start at the kiosk, and enter main trail, pass through two gates. Keep going. Notice marker #3 on your right. Continue on main trail for 35 steps. On your right there will be a sand colored rock, along the rock will be a moss covered fallen tree. Follow the tree to the root end. A bat is hiding there.

The Ghost
Continue straight on main trail. You’ll pass marker #4 on your right. You’ll also pass a beaver damaged swamp area. At the top of a little hill you will see marker 31 on the left. Turn left at the marker, walk 55 steps, look to the right; there will be an old house foundation and in front of it there will be a multi trunked tree stump. The ghost is waiting for you in the stump.

The Skull
Continue down this narrow trail to the end. Turn left, stay left at marker 30. There should be a rock wall along the left of this trail. Continue until marker 20. Turn right at marker 20 and continue down this trail. Eventually you’ll come to a large mound of lichen covered boulders on the right. Near the back of the highest boulder is a skull.

The Witch
Continue to follow path until marker 19 on left. Turn left here and follow this narrower trail. At marker 18 take the left and start climbing a hill. At the V in the path bear left (marker 17 is there but not immediately visible). The path crosses a stone wall and comes to intersection marker 16. Take a left and climb the last bit of the hill. At the top of the hill the path crosses another stone wall. Before you cross the stone wall, turn left and walk along the wall 9 steps. A witch is hiding among the stones.

The Parking lot
Now cross the stone wall and head down the hill. At end of this path, turn right (this path gets very muddy in Spring and wet weather). At end of this trail go past gate, turn right and your car should be in sight.
