This box was placed in honor of the hard work and service of the Hazleton Area Homeschoolers. I placed 4 Temporary and one permanent box and held a Letterboxing Day for them.
The feedback was exciting and a couple families caught the LB BUG.
You can get to Hazleton easily from I80 or I81, take the exit for 93S and follow into Hazleton. When you pass the Laurel Mall, the next light is Pecora BLVD, you will see a Nathan's Furniture Store, make a left and follow the road to the end, you will see a park and parking area.
Go the the gate and follow the road down to the lake.Cross the bridge, from the large rock in the road count 15 steps. Look down the hill, the bottom may be somewhat boggy. to your right you will see a somewhat overgrown path.( A small tree is blocking the trail, but you can find your way around it)
It meanders along the left of the stream for some time, when you come to a fork in the path, take the LEFT, this will take you through thickly growing fields of huckleberry bushes and a variety of small trees, mostly pitch pine.
You will come to a "T" in the path head in a southerly direction. At the next fork make a RIGHT and the next"T" make a LEFT.
Keep going eventually, the stream will be on your right again, you'll cross a little creek with 3 stepping stones and pass an ancient tree stump.
Do not lose heart, a ways down the path you will come to a huge pile of boulders in the stream to your right. ( A favorite place to play when the kids were little)
The largest boulder is a welcome place to sit and rest awhile, there is even a chair cut out and if you sit there facing south - at your feet is a smaller boulder wedged between two the two larger ones - look down to your left and under a stone that's where you will find "THE PARK".
If you get mixed up coming back - not to worry all paths heading in a northerly diection will take you back to the park. You can also just cross the boulders over the stream through the woods will take you a short distance to the soccer fields. follow the road back to the parking.

Hike length: 1-2 miles
