Luvvy’s Pub Box
Ever been to The Plume of Feathers or The Warren Inn in Dartmoor, England? If you have you know that when you go in you can ask at the bar for the pub box. You’ll be handed a container with several letterbox stamps in it and, while you sip on a pint of ale or lager, a shandy,a glass of wine or soda, you can stamp away to your heart’s content. Ahh, Dartmoor memories! Well, having just returned from Dartmoor I decided to bring that tradition home with me. Luvvy’s Pub Box can be found at Herrick’s Tavern on Route 202 (about 1/4 mile from exit 16 on Rte.2 towards Amherst) in Orange, MA. The waitstaff there are very accommodating and Kevin, the bar owner, graciously allowed me to place the box there. I don’t know if they can make a shandy but I will vouch that the Steel Rail Pale Ale and white zin are excellent (as well as the food!!). Just ask at the bar for the box and sit back, enjoy your drink and stamp away. True to Dartmoor tradition only one stamp goes toward your F count but I hope to add special stamps which will additionally count from time to time.
