**This letterbox is missing as of 4/26/08. We will try to replace it very soon.**

This letterbox is at Carver Pond in Bridgewater, MA.

Driving Directions:
Take Rt. 24 until Exit 15 (Rt. 104). Take Rt. 104 towards Bridgewater and follow all the way to the end. Take a left onto South Street and go to the Bridgewater Rotary. Take a right onto School Street off of the rotary. You will see the Town Hall and fire station on the left. At the end of School Street, take a right onto Summer Street. Follow Summer Street around to the left. Right after you see the sign for the Bridgewater State College Weather Station and Observatory on the left, Carver Pond will be up on your right. There is a small parking lot that holds about 4 to 5 cars.

Directions to the letterbox:

This walk is great for kids and will last about a ½ hour. Bugspray is recommended in the summer. This walk is not handicapped accessible or stroller friendly.

Park in the small lot at Carver Pond. Take the main path until you come to a small field. You can see the pond straight ahead. Stay on the skinny path that goes to the right. You’ll soon come to a little stone bridge. Cross over the bridge and continue on to the left, which will follow the pond. You may see Canada geese and lots of lily pads on the pond. The path will become somewhat grass covered. Keep going! You will come to a second little stone bridge; cross over and continue on the path. You will notice a lot of roots, so be careful. When you see a fallen log across the path, step over and keep going. At the fork, stay on the path to the left. When you get to the bowl, follow the path around the bowl to the left. The letterbox will be in the base of the tree at the top of the hill on the left side of the path. Please try not to let anyone see you take it out or put it back. Also, please take time to re-cover it carefully with the bark and leaves.

To continue on a nice walk through the woods, go back to the bottom of the bowl and follow the path that goes straight up the middle. It’s somewhat steep, so be careful. Up ahead, you will see a clearing where there are several logs lying on the ground. To the right, you may notice a “tepee” made from a tree and several branches. My boys thought this was a “cool fort”. Go back to the main path and continue going forward. On the right, you may notice a homemade lookout built into a tree. Continue to follow the path until you come to a fallen log that is vertical to the path. Step over the log and look for the path to vear off to the left toward the water. Stay on this path with the water to your right. Eventually, you will come back to the same bowl where you found the letterbox. From there, retrace your steps back to the parking lot.

We hope you enjoyed your walk! This is the first letterbox that we’ve placed, so please let us know if there are any problems.
