We have been going to Cape Cod for thirty years for a Halloween Hang Glider Fly-In Weekend. This is part two of three series to remember our favorite restaurants.
Truro - part two
Letterbox One:
Travel out of P-TOWN on RT 6.
You are looking for an "M" restaurant on your left.
Many an evening during our Fly-In, you can find half a dozen hang glider vehicles parked while we enjoy friends and food together.
The "M" letterbox is a small HIDE A KEY letterbox, with a mini log book, just enough room for your trail name and date...NO INK PAD. It is attached to a leg of the LARGE green Arrowhead sign.
Letterbox Two:
Continue on out RT 6 and turn right onto SHORE ROAD/6A.
Keep your eyes peeled for a "SPICY" place on your left.
Closed on Sundays, but one of the favorite food stops for pilots, when the winds and tides are not right for flying.
The "ASC" letterbox is a small HIDE A KEY letterbox, with a mini log book, just enough room for your trail name and date...NO INK PAD.
Enter the parking lot on the side farthest from the building, and park facing the same direction you were driving on RT 6. Look into the woods and see a small path leading to an electric box. The "ASC" is found over the top, attached to the back.
NOW - time for a little deviaton (if you have printed out the clues). As you leave the parking lot, you are at the start of the clues for the HALLOWEEN GLIDER of TRURO letterbox.
Letterbox Three:
If you have found the HALLOWEEN GLIDER of TRURO box, go back out to 6A and make a right, then bear left onto Arrowhead Road, back to RT 6.
Leaving the "ASC" letterbox, get back onto RT 6. Continue on until you find a Great Hollow Rd on your right.
The "WH" is a terrific place to dine. Fine food, great people, and they can handle large groups with many vehicles in their spacious parking lots.
As you make the turn off RT 6 onto GH Road - look to your LEFT. You will find the "WH" letterbox behind a gray metal electric box in the bushes. On the ground covered by bark and pine boughs. This box has an ink pad and a LOG BOOK.
