This is a 10-15 minute walk up to a really cool old landmark in Brattleboro. It will also introduce you to some great walking paths.

Take Exit 2 from Interstate 91. Head East, towards dowtown. Turn LEFT on the second street you see named after a tree. Go through stop sign. You are looking for a metal gate with a path leading off into a corn field on your LEFT. When you spot it, you can park off the right behind the wooden fence or along the road.

(For this whole trail, keep bearing left) Follow the path through the corn field. Join a gravel path bear left towards the stairs. Continue on a path marked after something a hockey player would like. At Y, bear left on a trail named after a region of Greece (and Maine). Climb slowly uphill, continue straight, at next intersection bear left (main trail). At next Y, bear left on lower woodlands trail. Soon, you will see the great old landmark in front of you. You can climb part of it at your own risk, but it is in disrepair.

Face the "Lion's Leap". From signpost, take 5 paces east and stand on a large flat rock. Look left and see a "three pronged" shag bark hickory tree. Letterbox is hidden behind tree under a granite rock.

First to find it gets a little treat.
Have fun!
