The salamander pond is found in the field beyond the warming shed at the bottom of the sled run at Blackwater Falls State Park. Next to the pond you will see the sled rope. Follow it to the sign reading "Stay in Track." Turn left into the treeline, crossing a small gully to reach a birch with a small tree just beside it. Five feet beyond is a flat rock, underneath which your amphibian reward awaits you. To see how this box got its name, just look in the pond on a warm day, especially a sunny morning in late June.
