This box is located in the beautiful Mahlon Dickerson Reservation, part of the Morris County Park system.
Terrain is level. The hike should take less than an hour.
The Mahlon Dickerson Reservation is located on Weldon Road, off of Rt. 15. From I-80, go on Rt. 15 North approximately 4.5 miles, and exit onto Weldon Road. Go approximately 3 miles, and look for the Saffin Pond parking area on right. Park, and take a few extra minutes for a nice walk around the pond. (There's another letterbox in the vicinity!)
From the lot, cross the road and go north on the trail just to the left of the marsh. (It's an old railroad bed.) A nice, level path for a leisurely stroll in the woods. Eventually, after passing the first swamp, you will come to another on the right. As you walk by it, you might notice a rock outcrop about 20 yards or so off the trail on the left. A round boulder sits nicely perched on top. Check it out!
