From Gilmer, take Hwy. 154 west to Rhonesboro to the intersection of Farm Road 1002. On the southwest corner of the intersection you'll find The Four Corners Grocery. Park on the west side of their parking lot by the fence. Follow the fence north towards the highway. Turn west and follow the tree line along the highway for about four steps to the first large tree. The "possum" is playing dead at the front of the tree's base under the ususal forest material.

After stamping in and carefully rehiding the box, go inside the store, and you can see the sign from the old Ford's Grocery that announced the International Possum Museum. Sadly, the museum is no longer available, but the sign across Farm Road 1002 still bills Rhonesboro as the Possum Capital. According to Bob Bowman in his "The East Texas Sunday Drive Book", the late 'possum expert, Spot Beard, once said, "There are 14 different ways to cook 'possum....and 14 different ways to throw it out."

From Rhonesboro, you can turn south on Farm Road 1002 until it intersects with Texas 155 northeast of Big Sandy. Annie's Tea Room in Big Sandy is a wonderful place to eat lunch.
