This letterbox is our first. Hope you have as much finding it as we did hiding it.

Great Brook State Park is located on the Carlisle/Billerica/Chelmsford line. It is a great place to hike or just hang out. There is an icecream stand which is open until November. Farm animals are also here for feeding. They also have a really good barn tour as well.

I am going to plagerize from another letterbox that did a great job of describing the directions. The GREAT BROOK BLUE COW letterbox is located in the same general location as ours. So, you could get the clues for both and do them at the same time.

Letterbox Clues

Head towards the main parking lot located off North Road (~1/4 mile from Lowell Road).

Park. Pay. Find signs for ice cream. Follow.

You’ll be making a quick walk through an area of tall grass/flowers. Upon exiting this area, a pond will be on your right, and you’ll be approaching the Lantern Loop trail (fun fact: this is lighted in winter for nighttime xcountry skiing).

To get ice cream (opened between mid/late April through October/November) one would cross the Lantern Loop and head up a gravel walkway lined with boulders. Resist this urge (for now). INSTEAD, stand on Lantern Loop and face the gravel walkway. TURN LEFT, and start walking uphill on the Lantern Loop (blue hiker markers). After a short way, the Lantern Loop will intersect with the Litchfield Loop trail (maple leaf markers and a post with #4 on it).

Turn RIGHT down the Litchfield Loop trail. At about 90 paces from the beginning of the trail you will see a fork in the path and a major trail leading off in to the woods on your RIGHT. *(Ahead of you will be some sort of pipe thingamajig sticking out of the ground - if you've reached this, you've gone too far). Take this new trail into the woods - the trail will twist and turn, and is marked by blue tags.
*** if you are going to do the Blue Cow letterbox, you are getting close***

Go up and over a small hill. Follow trail and go up another larger hill. You will pass thru a stone wall. Look to the LEFT for a tree that has been cut down. Stay straight on this path until you come to an open field. Follow the path to the RIGHT. As you walk you will see a cool tree on the LEFT that has fallen. Walk a little further past the fallen tree and you will see a swamp on your RIGHT. Do you see Shrek anywhere?

Follow the path past the swamp. After the swamp, look for a "Under Construction" sign on the RIGHT. Directly across from this sign(on the LEFT) is a trail. Look for the post with #6 on it.

At the #6 post go 11 paces straight into the woods (on the path). You will see a sign for Indian Hill.

Stop here and you will see a stone wall on your LEFT.

This would be a good spot to look for the letterbox.

Have fun!!!
