Ok, this lovely hike is technically in NH, but it's right on the river and has a great view of Brattleboro.
Mileage: 2 miles round trip
Time: 2-2.5 hours, depending on how much time you want to spend at the top
Directions from Main Street, Brattleboro:
Find an old iron bridge crossing into NH at the South end of town (turn left at the "end" of main street).
Once over the river, take your first left and follow it 200 yards to the Wantastiquet trailhead. Climb trail to summit.
From the summit, stand with your back to the marble pillar, look west and see the town of Brattleboro in front of you. Just to your left/front, see a trail leading off towards the edge (looks like it would lead to cliff edge).
Follow that path, pass a large rock on your right, stand on the next big rock you come to(level with path). Look to your left for a small oak tree. You'll see another small path passing the oak tree (leading away to your left) and leading to a nice group of big boulders, about 20 paces away. In the boulder pile under a rock is what you're looking for!
Have fun and enjoy the great views!!!
