7.5 miles south of Boone on Hwy. 105 or 7 miles north of Linville on Hwy. 105 between Boone and Blowing Rock you will find yourself across from the hawksnest and the seven devils. If you look up you will see the stunning profile of Grandfather. Some wonderful quick facts about Grandfather here http://www.grandfather.com/about/history.php Turn into Grandfather Campground (Park Rd.). Cross the flowing water in your vehicle. Make an immediate left into the FGCC Park. Find a place to park, you can just pull off on the shoulder, the box is a quick find. Walk to the first place to rest your feet, it's green. Right behind it, you will find a nice little rocky area. Bend down and choose the correct rock to remove. You will find Grandfather's Campfire hiding inside.
