We fear that this letterbox may be lost or very buried. Tried to find it June 2009 and it looks like the tree trunks have shifted and possibly buried it. The beach is great either way. Will try to rehide another Hooked soon.

From Kona, head north towards the airport. Turn right on Kealakehe Parkway and Honokohau Harbor. Take the first right and continue around the bend past the boat yard and dry dock area. The road will curve past the Kona Sailing Club. You will want to turn towards the right and park as close to the open ocean as possible.

Follow the paved driveway about 100 feet to the gate & dirt road. Follow towards the mouth of the harbor. The fuel dock will be across the water on your left and the path curves towards the right. Follow the path towards the entry gate to Koloko Honokohau Beach Park. Pass through the gate.

Check out the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles that like to nap on the beach but stay at least 20 feet away as they are protected by state law.

Travel north on the beach past the thatched roof A-frame. There is a path on the right that turns away from the beach. Follow the path to the Hawaii Interpretive Trail Sign. The path forks. Walk 58 steps from the sign down the right fork and stop.

20-25 feet into the woods on the left is a tangled clump of tree stumps. On the back side of the clump o' stumps behind some rocks, is the letterbox. Please rehide well.
