Granite Path Letterbox

This letterbox is hidden in Inks Lake State Park. Obtain a trail map from headquarters. Go to the Primitive Camping (Pecan Flats) Trailhead. Follow the trail. As trail begins to descend, you’ll see another trail going to the right...don’t take it! Continue a little further to the rocky section of the trail. Walk under the tree which overhangs the trail and STOP. A brown trail marker will be in front of you. The trail continues to the right, but you will not continue on it. Climb up on the large rocky area to your left. Walk about 28 paces to the cluster of loose, large rocks. Standing at this cluster, visually locate the highest point in front of you. Now move your eyes to the left until you see a large boulder with orange on the side facing you. Go to the orange-sided boulder and stand on it. With your back to the water, face the street sign which indicates a “snake curve”. You are facing 12 o’clock. Now turn your body to 9 o’clock. You will see a small cedar tree with a dead tree to its right. There is a large, flat rock about 7 feet long in front of the tree. Go around to the back of the tree. The box is hidden at the base of the tree, between the large boulders, under many smaller rocks.
