Drive to the Meadowside Nature Center (5100 Meadowside Lane, Rockville, Maryland 20855) and park in the main parking lot.
Walk down the trail starting at the sign at the end of the parking lot. Walk straight through the 3-way intersection of paths onto the Rocky Ridge Trail. Go past the Backbone Trail and past the fire ring of stones. Turn left onto the Meadow Trail, and go down the steep hill.
At the bottom of the hill, turn left and go across the bridge. Go left onto the Sleepy Hollow Trail. Go right onto the Big Pine Trail. Continue on path towards Lake Frank.
At the top of a small hill you will pass a small pine tree on the left, and you can see two fir trees on the left about 50 yards away towards the lake. Directly on your right is a tree with two blazes on it: a blue square blaze facing you, and a white blaze with a red center on the tree side away from you. Take the small path to the left that heads downhill towards the lake. Walk until you reach a large dead tree lying on its side. The letter box is under the big dead tree close to its roots.
(You will see another large dead tree on its side off to the left. You can also see the two fir trees are about 30 yards away on your left towards the lake.)
