Merry Christmas from The Domedreamers! We have hidden a series of letterboxes with the stamps we used to make our Christmas cards this year. The box will be available only from Christmas Eve through Epiphany.

At the end of the year it is nice to take a few moments to reflect on the things you have learned through the course of the year. The Domedreamers have learned that it is difficult to hide boxes in the snow. We apologize if the directions are a bit screwy, especially since as I write this, the snow that covered everything when we hid the boxes is probably being washed away by the pouring rain. Also, this is not really a drive-up this year, but it is not a long hike either, and it shouldn't take you long to find all the boxes.

There are three stamps in the series that make up the design, and they must be stamped on top of each other. The key is to match up the lower left corner of the stamped images. We have put ink in the boxes, but if something happens to it, or it goes astray, the boxes, in order, should be yellow, blue, and black. DO NOT mess up the stamps by using another color please! And once again, sorry, but these are big stamps (though not as big as last year’s).

The boxes are hidden at Union Pond park in Manchester. Park either at the pond or across the street at Robertson Park (when we were there the parking lot at the pond was full of snow). Take the orange/red trail (I can’t really tell what color it is - I think it’s red); there will occasionally appear to be trails leading off to the left of the main trail - the one you are looking for appears when the trail has started to go uphill. Stand at that Y intersection and look to the left - down the bank by the stream is an oak tree with one living trunk that leans slightly to the right, and one dead, broken trunk. At its base is a fallen log, and underneath that is Box #1.

Next, you will continue up the red trail until you come to a bench on your left. Have a seat, with your back to the pond. As you look into the woods across the path, a little off to the left is a fallen tree that never made it all the way to the ground. Go to the base of that tree; you will see a dead tree with a hole in its base; Box #2 is in that hole. (NOTE! Ooops! We discovered when we went with family to do the boxes on Christmas day that there is already a box in that hole, and we put our box on top of it! Don't know what we should do about that...)

Next you will return to the trail and go back the way you came. When you get to the parking lot, go over the bridge. Walk around the skating pond (in either direction) to the observation platform overlooking the river. The stamp is under the edge of the plank walkway to the dock, on the right side as you face the river. You will really have to reach under and up to find it on its ledge, and please be sure you rehide it well!

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD HIKE!!!!
