Easy box, less than two miles round trip on a little used portion of the Metacomet trail. Planted for all the recipients of a Dear John letter.

Directions: Follow Orchard Road in Berlin east from Route 71 for 0.5 miles, turn south onto Linden Dr. and then turn quickly right onto Summitwood Dr. to the end. Park along the road just before the cul de sac. The sign says No Parking Beyond This Point.

Clues: Walk into the woods to the right. Stay on blue the whole way, the blazes seem to be newly painted so this will be an easy task until just before the box. The trail starts off going uphill and when you seem to be topping the ridge watch for a left turn (somewhere along here you may encounter blue plastic blazes but these soon go straight where you have a left turn. Stay with the painted blue blazes) walking along the ridgeline for a bit. On the right you might see the giant's fire ring. After a bit the trail goes gently downhill and through a stonewall. When you come to a second wall (a bit tumbled)go straight across a newly bulldozed (?) area take about 100 steps and look right for a leaning tree about 20 feet off trail. Look in the hole at the base and recover well...it can be seen from the trail.

No ink in box.
