Eden Park is near downtown Cincinnati on a hill overlooking the beautiful Ohio River. There are entrances off of I71 and off of Columbia Parkway (by way of Kemper Dr).

Eden Park, one of the Crown Jewels of the Cincinnati Park system, is comprised of 186 acres and was assembled with various land purchases beginning in 1859. The largest parcel was donated by Nicholas Longworth.

A park map is at: http://dynamic.cinci-parks.org/images/park_media/201.gif?251

Clues:

After entering Eden Park, look for a brick water tower at one of the highest points in the park. Look for a sign indicating various groves including the Presidential Grove and the Authors Grove. Walk down the hill to the semi-circular wall that memorializes Authors Grove.

The Authors Memorial Grove is on the hillside of what was a vineyard prior to the 1800s. Cincinnati school children honored local, national and international writers by planting trees in their honor. The program started on April 30, 1882 on the first Arbor Day in Cincinnati. At that time 36 trees were planted and others followed. Forty-five of the original stone markers are placed in the wall.

Find the stone marker for Drake Percival 2nd Dist. School. Look over the wall; straight ahead is a tree at 160 degrees. Look in the base of that tree for Charley’s Mouse.

Please make sure to put the letterbox back securely since the park service grooms this park well and there are lots of little curious creatures around.

After going back to your car, continue on the road to find the Donald Spensor Ohio River Overlook. It is an awesome view. I really wanted to plant a letterbox nearby but there is a tremendous amount traffic here and again, the park is very well groomed.
