BOX 1. The Hopper
We went to Toddy’s Package Store to get some table wine for dinner. Toddy’s floor is black and white checkered tile. Tonight part of the floor in a distant corner appeared to be “hopping”. Sun spotted it first and kept squinting and frowning at this corner of the store wondering about what he was seeing.

One man walked in, saw the hopping corner, and stated, “I’ve had too much and don’t need more!” and walked back out the door.

I went to the corner to see what was hopping and found a black and white ______ who’s ___ perfectly matched the back and white divide between two floor tiles.

If you want to find out what was hopping, you’ll start just a few miles away from Toddy’s on the Third Creek Bike Trail. Park at its 3110 SUTHERLAND AVE entrance, which is directly across from the T intersection of Cox St. and Sutherland Ave. Walk up the trail. There will be a woods on the left and a Creek on the right as you go.

Cross under the arched railroad bridge and take the 3rd Creek Bike Trail to the left. You’ll pass a Green Bench next to Martha.

Next you’ll see Mr. Brake Bill on your left.

Soon you’ll discover that it is 1.1 mile to Tyson Park. Keep going toward the park.

You’ll meet John and Eleanor on your left.

Go up a bit and there will a place to rest on the right. Move on still headed in direction of Tyson Park.

Soon you should greet Mr. Robinson on your right.

Come to Adelaide Bowman Spengler and STOP.

Walk 29 paces forward. You should come to a stop at a crack in the sidewalk next to some green writing that says “34-A1”. If you cross water, you went too far.

There will be a clearing to your left. In the woods behind the clearing you will find a large conglomeration. It is roughly 35 paces left (and a little forward) from the green writing.

The Hopper hides behind this conglomeration under a rock. Please make sure the rock is replaced over hopper when you are done.

NOTE: THIS STAMP IS CARVED FROM WOOD BY A MEXICAN ARTIST. I BOUGHT IT IN TEXAS AND I DO NOT KNOW THE CARVER'S NAME.

BOX 2 The Mark of the Hopper

Once you’ve found the Hopper go back to the path. Move forward on the path and cross the bridge.

Stop at the far end of the bridge and look to your right. At 230 degrees see a path that leads through a fence. Take this path until it V’s about 9 paces from the bridge.

Take the leg to the left that heads up hill at 210 degrees. Go 27 paces and STOP.

You should be standing about 3 paces from a set of 4 stone stairs. Look to your left to find a path at 120 degrees going up a small steep hill to a stone ledge.

Look under the ledge behind a small rock to find the mark of the Hopper. Be careful. This path is steep and muddy, but not very long. Sit one the ledge to stamp up, but mind that the box and its protective rock don’t roll down the hill.
