Difficulty: Moderate
Location: A 1/8 mile round trip hike from parking.
Distance: 180 paces: 1 pace=2 steps or 1 giant step
Elevation: Paved and Flat... as a board!
Materials: Bring your own stamp pad, log book, stamp.

This box is hidden in the area near "Movies 10", off US 33 nearest Nelsonville, and The Plains along the bikepath.

There are multiple starting points from along the HocHocking Adena bikepath, anywhere from Nelsonville 16 miles to Athens. However, your goal is at the 13.5 mile marker on the path, so do the following:

Start in beautiful downtown Nelsonville, a community near Athens along US Route 33. Find the intersection of US 33 and County Road 4 (Glen Ebon Road) about 3 miles east of Nelsonville. Proceed South along Glen Ebon Road a little less than a half mile to the bridge. Cross the road and park in the turnout next to the bridge, where the bikepath crosses the road. Do not block either the road nor the bikepath traffic. LOCK YOUR CAR.

ALTERNATIVE DIRECTIONS FROM ATHENS ALONG US 33:
[Watch for the intersection on the left of US 33 about 3 miles north of The Plains interchange, Route 682. [Use caution when turning across US 33.]

(NOTE: This LB is exactly 5 miles East of Trailtracker's Hocking Valley Scenic Railway letterbox... but though the bikepath is very walkable, the rail line for the last 3 miles will be awkward.)

To find this LB: If you walk West, to the right, 180 paces, you'll come to the 13.5 mile marker, a stake on the East (river) side of the path. (As you start, on your left will be a small green bench, placed as a joint Athens Rotary Club project. You can check your pace stride by confirming that it falls at 40 paces.)

On the other side of the path from the mile marker stake, look for the closest pair of mossy, piled abandoned railroad ties. Look under the gap formed by their crossing. The opening faces away from the path, toward the hillside. Behind some sticks and bark should be the object of your quest. Please reseal the camo jar well. The lid is red. This should help you in spotting it. CAUTION: There may be poison ivy or some other reactive plant in the area!

Bring a stamp pad and your logbook, and your own stamp. You could retrace your steps to reach the bench (just 40 paces from the starting point) or other location with the stamp, or just do your log business right there. Please reseal the baggies and return all content back into the letter box, closing it for the next person, and carefully consealing.

If the logbook is full or missing, please contact me to advise. Enjoy!
