The El Rey archaeological ruins is a small and not widely publicized Mayan ruins site located near the southern end of Cancun's Hotel Zone at kilometre 17.5 on Boulevard Kukulkán. The site is amazingly quiet and peaceful considering it's proximity to the large resorts. It is not on the size scale of Tulum or Chichen-Itza but, being easily accessible by bus or taxi makes this site a nice destination for a short break from Cancun's crowds. El Rey ruins is on the Lagoon side of the road, directly opposite the public beach.

To the letterbox:
Up by the road, to your right as you approach the entrance to the site, there is a concrete platform with manhole covers. Facing away from the road, sit down on the platform . There is a row of rocks to your left (south) leaning against the platform. The letterbox is under the flat rock.
