Clues updated: 25-MAR-19

Time: ~30-45 minutes depending on season and trail conditions

Terrain: Fairly level with grassy (just guessing, since it was SNOWY when we were there) trail most of the time. Off trail to find box. Update: After the snow melted we discovered the trail is varied: grass, dirt and boardwalks. NOV 2010 Update: Apparently boardwalk construction is continuing, so areas that were trail may now be boardwalk.

In order to start your search, you first need to determine the starting point. To find out where it is, complete this short quiz related to February.

Clues:

The Milwaukee area has been getting a LOT of snow this winter. It can cause some problems, but it can also provide a lot of fun. You may see some people enjoying the snow if you do this hike in the winter. However in any season, you can still find some friends frolicking in the snow by taking the path from the parking lot towards the clubhouse. When you reach the roadway, head west with a sledding hill on your left and a lake on your right. Enter the woods and continue on the trail until you reach a fork. At this point veer right and see that you are welcome here [Update: or perhaps you are warned not to fish?]. Pass a small building, cross a bridge and travel along a boardwalk. When you get to your second choice on the boardwalk, head left on a walkway at 300 degrees. When you reach the unlucky post [reported to be quite faded in late 2010], veer left. Continue along as the walkway veers right and cross another bridge. Pass a sewer hole (what is THAT doing in the woods?!?) and then head left. Watch for a 25’-30’ snag on your right. The frolicking friends are tucked under a log on the southwest side of the tree. Please rehide them carefully after you record your visit.

Continue on the loop and pass another incongruous sewer and head left at a “Y”. Cross another bridge then head left downstream. When you reach a small boardwalk, turn right onto the same path you headed in on. At the unlucky post, head right, then right again at the “T”. Then it is boardwalk, bridge and building. Keep the lake on your left to return to the hill where the friends frolicked and make your way back to your vehicle.

Status reports would be greatly appreciated!
