Three years ago we went up to Galena with our small group for the weekend.

As soon as we got into town we ate at Vinny Vanucchi's. They sat us just past the hostess stand underneath the stairs. They pushed the lone two tables together.

We were all taken by the ambiance of this wonderfully cozy space. Closed off from the rest of the restaurant, candle light flickered across the stone walls that surrounded us, wine bottles stored along the ceiling. Vines intertwined with lights surrounded the room.

We four couples immediately dubbed this little romantic spot the "love dungeon."

After walking off our lunch down the streets of downtown and checking into Stony Creek Inn and taking a dip in the pool & hot tub we went back to Vinny's for dinner. This time they sat us in the upstairs with the "general public." It just wasn't the same -- so every time we go to Vinny's we request the "love dungeon."

In anticipation of this weekend I carved a stamp for the "love dungeon," and all the memories that it holds. Becki & I have never eaten there just the two of us, we have always been in good company with other couples. This stamp is dedicated to the Wilson's, Welsh's, Kunzle's & the Pollock's.

The best way to get this stamp is to enjoy a meal in the "love dungeon" yourself, and beware when asking for the room the hostess's don't know it by "love dungeon" . . . so if that is what you ask for you may very well get a funny look. Just request the room under the stairs. You may have to wait a bit for a table to clear -- we feel it is well worth the wait.

You will go down 3 stairs to your table, once seated just take your time and look around and take in all the details of the room. The box is a hide-a-key . . . there is a lot of metal in this room. There are two I-beams supporting the ceiling, the box is stuck to the I-beam closest to the stairs against the wall.

When the coast is clear go and stand on the stairs, reach through the vine, behind the I-beam and against the wall is the box.

If the second table is occupied, you may have a curious audience. Please explain to them what you are doing and just a little about the hobby of letterboxing -- actually here is what AQ explains it as (after finding the box just hand these clues to the other table and perhaps show them the box you just found) who knows, perhaps they will become letterboxers themselves after this experience;

"Letterboxing is an intriguing pastime combining artistic ability with delightful "treasure-hunts" in beautiful, scenic places. Participants seek out hidden letterboxes by following clues, and then record their discovery in their personal journal with the help of a rubber stamp that's part of the letterbox. In addition, letterboxers have their own personal stamps which they use to stamp into the letterbox's logbook."

This is a double sided stamp and the image of the dancing couple has become one of my all time favorite carves. Simple, elegant, romantic all wrapped into one image.

I imagine the couple being my beloved and I in an eternal dance together, forever in each others arms.

I love you Becki, may Valentines Day last all year and forevermore!
