The ravens are back out in the desert, flying around! They left Quijotoa on December 12, 2008, and have found their new home March 5 2009. LOVELY RAVENS!
Ravens mate for life. Whenever you see one, look around; its sweetheart is never far off. Ravens are nice company when you’re out walking in the desert.
Go west from Tucson over Gates Pass, and pull off on the north side of the road, in pullout G5. Carefully cross the road, and walk between purple rocks majesties, following the little footpath southwards. Not far ahead of you are some magnigficent monkey rocks. The trail you're on goes directly to them. Before the trail drops down, find the last saguaro before the rocks, on the left side of the trail. A young, sort of adolescent saguaro. Stand beside it and look across at the rocks. Observe that there are two boulders at the front of the group, with brilliant chartreuse lichens on their north faces. The boulder on the left has a jojoba at its NW corner. Keep your eye on that spot, and go to it.
Behind the jojoba there is a small 3 lobed cave under the rocks. The box is hidden in the west lobe of that little cave. If I were a gila monster, I would hang out in there, so do by all means look before you reach!
There are often climbers and picknickers at the monkey rocks, so be very discreet when finding and rehiding this box.
Please rehide the box well. This box has room for a HH.
