The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a 1974 American horror/cult film about a group of friends on a road trip in rural Texas who are attacked by a family of cannibalistic men, including the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface. Scenes were filmed in several locations in Texas; the cemetery scenes were filmed in Leander, some scenes were filmed in the city of Austin, and the gas station scene was filmed in the town of Bastrop. This letterbox was placed for the TX Treasures LB Event at South Shore Park On Lake Bastrop and after finding it you should visit the old gas station in Bastrop for the full effect. Just beware of chainsaws!

Directions:
From Austin, take Hwy 71 southeast to Bastrop. To see the gas station, turn right on Hwy 304 and go a few miles to it on the left. To find the letterbox, turn left on Hwy 95, then right on Hwy 21 east. Go approximately two miles and turn left onto South Shore Road (also CR 352). South Shore Park entrance will be on your right after a mile or so. Pay your fee, get a map then go right to the Lewis Point Camping Loop and park at the overflow parking near campsite #18 and the restrooms.

Clues:
Walk north on the road toward campsite #36 and find the Heron Trail head. Walk on the trail about 200 yards until you cross a clear-cut area. Continue another 35 steps and look left for a double-trunk tree about 12 steps off trail. The camo letterbox is on the back side base of the tree under a rock and leaves. Please re-hide as described.
