Take route 9 to exit 10 and find Aircraft Road. Park along the north side near the blue oval Mattabesset Trail sign.

Take the blue trail north, ignoring all the side trails and keeping to blue the whole way. In the beginning there’s been a lot of clearing done but you soon leave this behind, walking over rocky areas and going up and down a few times before coming to a place where the trail is VERY close to the edge of a steep drop off. Look right here to see a stone wall down below. Take the trail down hill, then turn right to bushwhack to the stone wall. Where wall meets ledge, turn and walk back eight steps to look in a crevice under a tree growing out of the ledge for Bear #1.

Continue on blue, coming to a stream which you’ll cross three times. Staying on blue you come to the Great Wall of China and then wind your way around and over the top of it. Cross over a blue with yellow trail, cross over a logging road and then go uphill to circle around a large boulder (ledge?) but just before you circle, look right in the roots of a downed tree for Bear #2.

Continue going up, walk across rocky ledge tops and descend to join the blue with yellow trail for a bit but soon the blue goes left. Start walking over a series of rocky ledges until you come to a large rock face. This is an open sloped, ledge. Looking down you can see the trail entering the woods. When you get there (and just before going up and over yet another ledge) look right to see a VERY faint path leading to another ledge. Behind a trap door on top you’ll find Bear #3.

My advice is to retrace your steps unless you have another agenda.
