This is another letterbox/geocache hybrid, placed within the Richard Dorer State Forest, Reno Unit. This is a large forest unit, so pay attention!

South of Brownsville on Highway 26, continue along the river. When you note a very large USFW Viewing Area, you're getting close. You will continue a little further south, crossing the mouth of a small stream entering the Mighty Mississippi. There are two gated areas to the west. Park at the one further south. It can be easy to miss. If you get to the other viewing platform, you've gone too far, turn around and look again!

Once parked, head into the trails. You will stay on the highway side of the creek, enjoying the sights and sounds of the forest. You will continue along this way, nearing the steep south facing bluff. The creek will also make a sharp bend toward the west. Start your search in this area. You'll need to look up; that's where the birds are, anyway. But keep an eye on the ground, too. Don't fall in the creek!

There should be abundant natural retrieval devices near the cache location. You are looking for a modified Parmesan container. There are also small trade items for the geocachers seeking this letterbox.Enjoy your visit to the forest and good luck!
