This Easter themed series is a collaboration between Bedlamite9 and St Johns Neighbor.

To start your hunt, you will need to park by the beige 44” meterhouse located at 1900 SE Reservoir Loop. For those of you familiar with the area, you will recognize this as the south side of Mt. Tabor just above the off leash dog park area. You can access this spot from the west by driving in on SE Lincoln off of SE 60th or from the east by driving in on SE Harrison.

Head up the stairs and turn left when you reach the tan shed (a little more than halfway up the hill.) Walk down the dirt path past a small blue-doored concrete structure. Continue past the two concrete slabs (to your right) and look for your first letterbox (Easter Egg, carved by Bedlamite9) nested with a few carefully chosen rocks around the back of a tree that is growing near the second slab (the one with the manhole cover).

Continue down the dirt path and after reaching the paved road take a right and then a left to travel through the two blue metal posts and down the dirt road. (Let’s hope you brought your hiking shoes because this trail can get a tad sloppy this time of year.) Look right for an unusual multi-trunked tree grouping. Take the small stony path up to the far side of this tree grouping where you can find your next letterbox (Calgary, carved by St Johns Neighbor) hidden under some moss and between two fallen logs.

Go back down to the main dirt road and keep walking for a spell. You will come to a white concrete structure (another meterhouse) with some “chill” graffiti. Look under the concrete “window ledge” on the left side of this building where you will find your third letterbox (Empty Tomb, carved by St Johns Neighbor) nestled with some rocks to keep it from rolling away.

Continue not much farther and look uphill for a gnarly-based two trunked tree with muddy carverns at its root. You will find this next letterbox (Easter Tulip, carved by Bedlamite9) in the east side of this tree wedged in the long narrow crevice .

Onward down the dirt road and past some fallen trees and stumps (to your right) and two concrete slabs (to your left). Look right for the holly bush and the rooty vines. You will find your fifth letterbox (Easter Lily, carved by St Johns Neighbor) at the far end of the exposed roots tucked under some leaves.

Keep to the main path and you will pass a downward trail to your left. Look for the tree just past this turnoff (and also to your left) where you can find your next letterbox (Easter Lamb, carved by Bedlamite9). It is hiding at the bottom of the large crevice at the base of this tree and covered by some natural debris.

Soon you will come to “Reservoir Drive.” Look you will find a lamppost here at the end of a large juniper hedge. Reach behind the base of this lamppost where you will find your seventh letterbox (New Dawn, carved by St Johns Neighbor) carefully wedged.

Head southeast past the Hypochlorite Building and take a left onto the gravel path where you will skirt the south edge of the large reservoir. Enjoy the view. If you remain on course, you will eventually reach a paved road and pass between a blue drinking fountain and a green garbage can. Turn right onto this large paved road. Walk about 20 steps and look to your left for a tree with its many branches reaching out and toward a smaller reservoir just ahead. You will find your eighth letterbox (Easter Chick, carved by Bedlamite9) at the base of this tree hidden in a hole on the downhill side and behind some rocks.

Continue downhill on the paved road where you will pass some white pillars. (You will notice one at the end of the row that is marked with a zebra print.) Turn left and over the metal grate to walk down the “private road.” Look for the third large tree on the bluff to your right. Here you will find your next letterbox (Three Crosses, carved by St Johns Neighbor) buried at the base of the tree (uphill side) with some larger sticks that hide it.

Up ahead you will see a medieval looking structure. Just before the blue door look right for the tenth letterbox (Ascension, carved by St Johns Neighbor) hidden in the stony wall about one foot up from the ground and behind some leaves.

After following the paved path past the stone building, turn left to pass through two blue posts down a dirt path past the reservoir gatehouse and shrub thicket. Pass five evergreens on your right and look ahead to where you will spot a small cedar grove. Past the first group off cedars you will find another small row right behind a green metal post. The first tree in this row hides your final letterbox (Easter Rabbit, carved by Bedlamite9). Look for the branch nook at eye level where you will find the box hidden behind some well placed rocks.

To finish the loop, head back to the stairs (across from the reservoir gatehouse), which you can take down to where this all began.
