This is in the Centennial Watershed State Forest-Aspetuck Valley Trail.

Trail head is in Newtown, box is in Redding. The parking is off of Poverty Hollow Road, about a mile south of intersection with Hopewell Woods Rd. (Close to the town line in Newtown)

Take trail south, information board has copies of the trail map (which is your pass onto the property).

Go 1.93 miles to the trail intersection with Goodridge Rd. Turn around. Go back up hill to rock wall that trail goes through. On north side of wall, to the left, count about 5 steps. Toward top of wall is a dull pink rock. Behind rock is the "Henry VIII Letterbox". Hide and head back (yes, the 2 miles back!).

Two markers are included for the red and blue/purple. Stamp is hand carved.

It took us, one adult, one eight year old, a little less than two and a half hours to plant and return.

Lots of Mountain Laurel and rock formations. Trails in good condition, but, some mud.
