Many thanks to Jonah of Jonah's Whalers for the new fish names.

Last Christmas Eve I read Mark and Sue Pepe’s blog about the Feast of the Seven Fishes and an idea was spawned. These trails can be very slippery in winter so I’m jumping the gun on the Christmas season to enable you to hunt them amongst the mosquitoes. All of the stamps were carved by RTRW. There are no ink pads so bring fishy ink. Log books are in the first and last boxes. Three miles round trip, enjoy the ride.

To get to Ragged Mountain Preserve follow West Lane west off route 71-A (Chamberlain Highway) for 0.6 miles. Parking for the preserve is on the right.

Go straight past the map board and turn right onto the blue with red dot trail. When the trail goes left stay straight on an unmarked trail for about 90 steps and look left for a spikey fallen tree perpendicular to the trail. Look behind it's stump for fish #1, Fishy.

Go back the way you came, turn right onto the blue with red dot trail. Cross stream, go uphill, watching on the right for a downed four sister tree. From the exposed roots take 13 steps at 30 degrees to a perfect two sister tree. Look in the center for fish #2, Sharkey.

Continue on another 12 steps to a woods road (?) gully (?) go left. Follow this going gradually uphill until you see blue with green dot blazes, turn right. The trail gets steep, look up, see the top? When it levels out watch on the left (off trail) for a rocky/ledge area with a three sister tree. Look in the center for fish #3, Spiney

Continue until you come to the intersection with the blue trail, go left on blue (just before you reach the blue trail you may see some red dots on the blazes). There will be some ledge underfoot on this trail and when you get to the fourth one (there’s an old cut tree to the left) look right for a five sister (one has already left us) with some new growth in front of it. Look on the back side for fish #4, Smiley.

Continue on blue but when it goes right, stay straight on a mostly unmarked trail. You might see some blue graffiti spray painted on rocks and trees. At the upside down wreck, look right for a three sister tree, from there go to the next three sister (behind it) and look in the center for fish #5, Stripey.

Continue on this gully trail (to the right of the wreck) cross brook, come to an inverted Y intersection and now you’re on the red trail. From the intersection (going straight) count 40 steps, look left for a large two sister with a smaller two sister on the right (one of the smaller ones has passed away) From there southeast (140 degrees) (40 steps off trail) for a four sister (one has already gone on). Look in the center for fish #6, Finney.

Continue on, come to an intersection with a fire ring, stay on red, come to another inverted Y and now you’re on the Blue with green dot tail. Continue straight. From the first blue dot blaze (on a skinny tree) count 70 steps to a two sister tree on the left. Site 30 degrees and go 17 steps to a small tree with a holy base (this tree has fallen over and the box is under a rock at the root end. Thanks to Jonah's Whaler's for this update) for fish #7, Kissey (my favorite).

Continue straight to get back to your car.
Please cover all boxes better than you found them. Thanks.
