GIANTS OF CRANDALL FIELD placed by Bonk & Mandy 5/14/03

DIRECTIONS:
Rte. 3 south. Just past signs for Rte. 216, you’ll see a large open field on your left-hand side. This is Crandall Field. Pull in and park behind the Crandall Field House. The game is afoot..........

NOTE: at certain times of the year, this stamp hunt can be quite muddy. Be sure to wear old shoes/boots and exercise caution where necessary!!

GIANTS OF CRANDALL FIELD

Park in the back of the Crandall Field House, this will only be a short stay
To your left is a large wooden structure.....sorry, there’s really no time to play.

Roughly S across the wide open towards the lonely vine-covered tree.
For now your goal is to get to the place where Red-Winged Blackbirds ought to be.

In the back corner of the watering hole, don’t stop to take a bath.
Head about 225 several paces to a small and narrow path.

Set off down the path with its reeds and its briars....note all the bird life too.
If you’re quiet and careful the wildlife may stop and say hello to you.

Keep going I say, with the swamp on both sides where the water and plant life rots,
till you get to a quaint wooden foot bridge, (careful, it’s tilted in spots).

Just after the overpass, go slow....there’s still more mud that you really want to miss.
After you pass the rock in the path it’ll be drier than this.

Over some grassy hummocks, try to match them with your stride,
soon you’ll get to the spot where your path will open up nice and wide.

Behold!! The Giants of Crandall Field, they appear to be all the same.
Two on the right, one on the left, Quercus is their name.

Pass the mammoths ‘till the fork in the path, 180 is what you should choose
Curve past the laurels, around to a structure wood peckers would love to use.

In the base of the rotten formation, behind rotten pieces of wood,
you’ll find the box hidden where a fourth giant, long ago, might once have stood!!
