Time: 15 minutes. Distance ~~50 yards round trip
Please bring your stamp, a stamp pad, pen and an old rag to wipe off the box/your hands.
Note: Box found in June 09 and then reported as missing on 7/17/09. Then found again on July 25th. Good that I did not retire it on the first attempted report.
The "Safari Man- On The Highway/ and Interstate" series depicts things one might see as they drive the highways of the U.S. These are targeted mainly for rest stops but might pop up anywhere. This letterbox is titled SPEED TRAP FODDER. Happy traveling!
Clue: (NOTE there is also a letterbox on the opposite side of the Interstate at this same MM for when you are on the flip flop....referenced from VA) While traveling I -77 southbound, leaving Virginia and entering North Carolina, exit at the first rest stop, which is a mile or two into North Carolina. Enter the Car parking lot and pass the main building a ways, and down on the right you will see a parking lot for the pet exercise area and a pole/sign with dog poop baggies available for use. Park in front of this pole or use it for a reference. Stand on the sidewalk and face the sign. With the sign straight ahead (12 o'clock) look to your right a little to the 1 o'clock position. Down there a good ways you will see a light pole. Walk to the light pole and past it to the gravel maintenance road and go left on said road to the gate. When you run into the gate, stop. Turn 90ยบ left and see the tree on the mound...near the second fence pole to the left of the gate. Making sure no one at the picnic tables is observing you, Look under the rock/fallen limb near the base of the tree and I hope you find Speed Trap Fodder. Do your stamping and please reseal the container and or reseal baggies completely while double bagging the log book. And when you get a chance, please advise me of the condition of the box, contents and how you liked or disliked the hunt.
