** PLEASE NOTE THAT WE'VE TEMPORARILY REMOVED THE BOX. WE'LL LET YOU KNOW WHEN IT'S BACK. THANK YOU.

We'll start with directions to the castle (for those from outside the area).

Take 93 North to 495 North, then take exit 52 off of 495. (Haverhill/Bradford, Rte 110). It’s the LAST Haverhill Exit. At the end of exit take a left. You will pass two entrance roads to Northern Essex Community College. You will pass Kenoza Lake on your left. After the lake there is a pond. At the pond (also on the left) there is a sign that reads “Winnekenni Castle” on it (there are stonewalls on either side on the entrance). Take that left. When you go through the entrance there will be a tennis court on your right and the pond on your left. Drive all the way up to the top of the hill and you will see the castle. (Warning: the road is not paved so please drive with caution.)

Park in the castle's parking lot.

Then walk to the statue of the elk.

At the elk's tail, turn around and walk straight to the edge of the woods. (As though the elk is walking backwards in a straight line.)

At the woods' edge, be sure and check that you're still aligned with the elk's tail.

Walk straight into the woods. Look for a smallish evergreen tree. (There aren't many evergreens. You should be able to see it. We counted about 70 paces from the woods' edge.)

Walk around the smallish evergreen tree. There's a big tree trunk behind it.

At the big tree trunk head to the right. There's another small evergreen about 34 paces from the big tree trunk.

Behind THIS evergreen, you'll see a fallen tree. The fallen tree has split in two. You'll find our box in one of the ends of the split. We've covered it with bits of bark and dead leaves.

Thank you. We hope you've enjoyed our simple and short excursion.
