The Caverns Of Sonora is a world-class cave due to its stunning array of calcite crystal formations, especially helictites. The cave's most famous formation is the Butterfly. It is the only known formation like it in the world and is formed by two fish tail helictite growths that share the same attachment point of the cave wall. So come visit this amazing place and find my letterbox at a rest area on the way.
Directions:
For the microbox, go west on I10 from Hwy 277 in Sonora for 6 miles to a rest area on the right. Pull in and park by the first picnic table. To get to the caverns, continue west on I10 a few more miles to exit 392 and go south.
Clues:
Walk toward I10 to the chain-link fence and go left (east) to the 10th pole from the end. The camo microbox is under the cement base covered by rocks. Please re-cover well and be discreet.
