*** Part of my TX Movies Series ***
Terrain Difficulty: Easy (flat, 1 mile RT)
Recommended Ink: green & black
Status: reported missing (11/14/08)
Friday Night Lights depicts the daily struggles endured by a coach of a high school team, the Permian High Panthers of Odessa, Texas, the most successful football program in Texas, with four state titles. Every Friday night in the fall, the small town of Odessa comes alive beneath the stadium lights when the team runs onto the field. The 20,000 seats at Ratliff Stadium are filled with their devoted and loyal football fans. This is more than a game; it is a way of life for the town and for many other towns in Texas. This minibox pays tribute to all those towns and their football players and can be found at Comanche Trail Park, which features a long paved trail.
Directions:
From I20 in Odessa, take exit 115 and turn north on S. County Road West or FM 1882. After .5 mile you will see a sign for the park on the right. Turn and park in the parking lot near the trail head with 2 red posts.
Clues:
Walk on the trail past the playground then across 2 culverts with green posts. Continue past a small parking area on the left and then a red sign with "3 miles" on the reverse side. Continue on, crossing 3 more culverts with green posts, stopping at the far side of the third culvert. Turn left and walk 10 steps off trail to a multi-trunk tree. The camo minibox is within the trunks under a rock and leaves. Please re-cover well.
