Lockhart state park was constructed by the CCC between 1935 and
1938. The park now offers some hiking trails, swimming pool, camping
with showers, and a golf course

Directions:

The "Texas Jackalope" microbox is located in Lockhart State Park,
close to Lockhart, Texas. From Lockhart and Hwy 183, go south on Hwy
20 for 1.7 miles to the park entrance on the left. After entrance
station, stay on main road toward "Recreation Hall', traveling up the
hill to the end of the road. Park near the Rec. Hall.

To the microbox:

>From the parking lot, walk to the back side of the Recreation Hall
and enjoy the view from the large patio. Exit the patio off the
north side, and locate the trail going downhill on the stone stair
steps. Go down the steps to where a line of posts (with a chain
between them) starts on your right. Count as you walk to the 7th (one post is now down, so 6th standing post)
post on your right. Step to your right, under the chain and down the
hill 1 step. The box is under the cement trail next to the 7th post,
covered with rocks. Please recover well, and return the way you came.
