I've marked this box extreme as the area where she is hidden is very rocky and slippery, even in dry weather. Lots of trees are down and climbing is somewhat challenging. Just FYI to keep little ones from falling.

Jo -- Little Women Come to Texas Series Box 2/5

Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women has been a favorite of many for over 100 years. When my California granddaughters came to visit, little women in their own right, we decided to plant a series of boxes to honor this loved author, and to commemorate their visit to Texas.
Alcott's Little Women explores the overcoming of character flaws. Each of the March girls displays a major character flaw: Meg, vanity; Jo, a hot temper; Beth, shyness; and Amy, selfishness. They overcome their flaws through lessons learned the hard way. Most of the flaws are in check for a time after lessons are learned, but even as young women the girls must work out these flaws in order to become mothers, wives, sisters, and citizens.
Josephine March - The protagonist of the novel, and the second-oldest March sister. Jo, who wants to be a writer, is based on Louisa May Alcott herself, which makes the story semi-autobiographical. Jo has a temper and a quick tongue, although she works hard to control both. She is a tomboy, and reacts with impatience to the many limitations placed on women and girls. She hates romance in her real life, and wants nothing more than to hold her family together. She is especially close to her younger sister Beth, who helps her become a gentler person.

Directions:
The Jo Box is located at the Austin Nature & Science Center. From MoPac (Loop 1), exit 2244/Rollingwood and proceed east on Barton Springs Road. Turn left on Stratford, just past the Botanical Gardens entrance. Follow Stratford to the parking area under MoPac Bridge.

From I-35, exit Riverside Drive heading west. Turn left on Barton Springs Road and go about 1.5 mi. Turn right on Stratford Drive and follow it to the parking area under MoPac Bridge.

Clues:

Once you have said hello to Jo's sister Beth, continue on this trail, climbing to the very top and the ruins. Enjoy the view. Then head thru the wall and down the stone steps. It's pretty tricky, so be careful. Once you reach the path and handrail, take a breather. Got a good hold on that handrail? Turn around and hold it with your right hand. Look straight ahead. See those two skinny trees right next to each other, about 10 yrds off the path? Jo is nestled dry and secure right in front of those trees, in a crevice about a foot off the ground, no doubt writing another chapter of her book. Don't disturb her too long, and replace her well.

Please be discreet, as there are lots of hikers, families and school groups in the area. Please re-hide well and cover your tracks off the trail. To get back to the Science Center, stay on this trail down the hill. At the bottom, turn left and head on to the creek and out.
