Brookside Nature Center located at 1400 Glenallen Ave.

First box placed 12 April 2008. Added second box 6 July 2008.

Box 1 moved a little way uphill on 8 August 2009 after the new Nature Exploation Area opened. Clues modified to reflect new nearby placement.

--- BOX 1 - Brookside ---

Once you arrive at the Nature Center parking lot
you'll be glad the first clue is easy to spot.

To the East a pond you should see.
And heading toward it a path ingrown with a tree.

Follow the path til you come to a road.
You must take that way south to break the code.

Up the hill you will go, not quick but not slow.

Look about before reaching a bump
the path to the right is the way you must jump.

You'll see rocks to your left and ahead stairs to climb.
Count the steps - like penny's in a dime.

Pass the Woodpecker's garden and at the split go South.
Along the fenced path toward the pioneer house.

Cross the parking lot - there's no need to go fast
this is a place to explore, with a cabin from the past.

Where next you say? Just look for a saw to show you the way.

Continue the trail South and go uphill to the right.
Its hard to believe but the end is in sight.

Pause at the "bay" pond and enjoy the view.
You're in a rare place visited by only a few.

Turn around slowly and go through the gate.
Enjoy the Nature Exploration Area - it's great!

When finished exploring continue out - go uphill and South.
Find a lone log to the left and look deep in its mouth.

The treasure is waiting in the heart of the bark.
Hidden in a wooden tunnel tucked back in the dark.

Please replace the box carefully for others find.
Go back down the trail to the Woodpecker's garden sign.

--- BOX 2 Feathered Friend ---

At the Woodpecker's garden a choice must be made.
Head west along the trail, you should be in the shade.

Pass under the sign, its advice is good but not complete.
You could leave prints with a stamp and not just your feet.

As you go note the welcoming bench and marker number one.
You're doing well and we hope are having some fun!

See the "Animal Inn" along the right side of the trail.
You are on the right track and too close to fail.

Count 40 paces - take a bearing at the fork in the way.
Your compass should point south so don't delay.

Ten paces up the fork should bring you close to a a tree.
It's a little unusual, it has not one trunk but three.

Where the trunks come together your prize lies covered.
Lift the bark lid and see what you have discovered!

To return to the parking lot this you must do.
Head down the hill to the split at marker number two.

Go right at the T and keep walking to see.
On your left there are homes, known as hives to a bee.

Just ahead is the lot and the journey is done.
Thanks for trying our clues and we hope you had fun!
