1 Mile Round Trip - easy hike
SportsNut (aka Joey) made his first trip into Hannibal to see the Mark Twain sights. While walking out of the famous cave of Tom Sawyer, he spied a slingshot in the souvenier shop. He spent many hours shooting stones and acorns into the Mississippi River and at a variety of trees in the woods just like Tom and Huck. While hiking along he spotted a couple of trees into which another tree had fallen and gotten caught. He thought it looked like a giant slingshot and so a letter box was created for that spot.
Clues:
Find the Mossy Hill Trail located in Cuivre River State Park. There is a parking lot available to the left of the trail head. Begin at the trail...5 footbridges...left and up at the Y...up the hill...4 wooden beams...to the tree that arches over the path. The box is hidden under bark at the earth bound end of the fallen tree.
