Grapeland is a small town nestled between Palestine and Crockett in Houston County and home to the Grapeland High School Sandies and Salmon Lake Park. PsGuru found this fun place and we spent a couple of days there recently and had a great time taking photos of old buildings, cars, trucks and tractors. They have cabins and lots of camping spots for RV”s and tents. (they even have a tree house you can rent) There is swimming in the summer and lots of activities to entertain old and young alike. Directions: From Palestine, head South on 287 Take business road 287 that will take you to downtown Grapeland where there will be signs directing you to the park. You will pass Grapeland High School and turn left on Redbud Ave. At the intersection of Redbud and Dogwood, turn left, you will be at the Grapeland Cemetery. (there isn’t a sign)
To the box:
Turn into the second entrance and drive all the way to the back of the cemetery where it will “T”. Turn left and drive to the corner of the two fences. In this corner, look for a square fence post with a small tree in front of it (there are two trunks). Box is at the base of this tree. Please re-hide and cover well.
