Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs has hidden Public Art Caches near pieces of public art all around Orange County. This hunt was created in an effort to let more citizens experience public art through an exciting and adventurous journey around Orange County. We hope that, long after you track down one of our Caches, you will continue your search for art.

TOWER OF LIGHT

The Tower stands tall outside of a City Hall near South St. When working properly the Tower of Light is a colorfully illuminated 60' high stainless steel and laminated imported opal glass monument at the heart of downtown Orlando. Placed at the centerline of our county’s Avenue, the tower celebrates physically and metaphorically the intersection of private and public interests in Orlando, and is a symbol for the aspirations of the community. It was commissioned during the heyday of the “Points of Light” volunteerism movement. Drivers and passengers can see the tower, by renowned glass artist, Ed Carpenter, from several blocks away as they drive down the Avenue towards City Hall.

Immerse yourself in the Tower of Light. enter your site from there between two palms and you will see a muscular leg. Go there. This athlete is trying to give you a hint. Go in the direction his right pointer finger is pointing. There are two birds that don’t ever leave these blueberry bushes. They might have left droppings all over the area where this Cache is located if they weren’t cast in bronze. Near the base of the pole that holds up the 2nd bird and under a rock you will find the cache.

Please make sure to not damage the plants in the area. Be sure to hide it with leaves before you leave. Place the Cache back exactly where you found it for the next hunter who comes along.

Please feel free to send an e-mail to terry.olson@ocfl.net or call us at (407) 836-5540 to let us know about your hunting experience. If you could not find the Cache, please let us know. Other cache clues can be found at www.ocfl.net/publicartcaches.
