Wills Point is located 44 miles east of Dallas and 15 minutes northwest of Canton First Monday trade days, on Highway 80. The town is known as the "Gateway to Lake Tawakoni" and the "Bluebird Capital of Texas". Wills Point is just south of the Lake Tawakoni State Park. They hold the annual Bluebird Festival in April, and the Christmas Bazaar and Parade on the first Saturday in December.
Take a stroll along the red brick streets of our historic downtown district and enjoy Wills Point's country atmosphere, shopping, antiques, dining, old-fashioned charm and friendly faces. Nearby you will find the Wills Point Historical Society railroad depot museum and restored Texas and Pacific Caboose Visitor's Center, as well as the original Wills family log cabin. The Wills Point area is home to seventeen Recorded Texas Historic Landmarks.
Lester Park and Charlie's Place were donated to the city by Maxine Hollister Lester, a long time resident of Wills Point and champion of children in need. In recognition of her efforts on behalf of the youth of Van Zandt County, Mrs. Lester was named 2005 Wills Point "Citizen of the Year," 1985 Wills Point "Woman of the Year", and also received the "Kiwanis Service to Youths" award in 2003.
Lester Park and Charlie's Place is a 73-acre public park with a large brick meeting facility. The area is used as a facility for baseball, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Senior Citizens, the Tractor Club, the Wills Point Youth Soccer Association, as well as many other organizations.
The Lester Park Playground was built the week of March 21, 2007, with all volunteer labor and donated materials. Designed from the ideas of the community's children, this destination park started as a dream in 2006.
As a troop we planted this garden and placed this box for our silver award in Girl Scouts. We challenge you to find it, and celebrate with us by enjoying this wonderful addition to our community.

directions:
Find Wills Point on map. Lester Park is on FM 2965 near the High School and Intermediate school. Just South of Highway 80. Park facing playground. Find entrance, notice garden on left. Box is under a rock that is different from the others. Please recover and hide well, remember this is a public area.
