Lincoln Love Birds Letterbox

Estimated Time: 30 minutes
Distance to Boxes: 0.5 Miles
Roundrip: 1 Mile

Please bring your own stamp pad and pen. A compass is helpful.

There is a beautiful area of conservation land in Lincoln. Here you will find many birds, including my love birds. When heading west on Route 117 in Weston, just 20 feet or so before the “Entering Lincoln” sign you will see a small parking lot on your right. Across from the lot is a mailbox marked “576". You’re in the right lot.

At the edge of the parking area, you’ll see a black metal gate representing the trail head. Begin the trail. After you pass 1 brown sign, you will see a small side trail bearing left. Begin on this trail following the red trail markers.

When the trail meets a stone wall, stop. From the small, skinny tree walk NE 3 paces (6 steps) along the stone wall. The first Love Birds box is at your feet. Please make sure you reseal the box when re-hiding. Now return to the main trail.

You may notice that the stamp in this first box displays only half of a heart. Don’t be discouraged, the other half is coming. Follow the rest of these clues to complete the heart and find the bird a song partner.

Continue NE down the main trail. Although you will pass several side trails, stay on the main trail. After a short pleasant walk, come to a small bridge over a dam. Feel free to take a rest on a stone bench. Cross the bridge and continue down the path.

When the path comes to a fork, take the grassy left branch. You will pass several large pine trees. Continue on the trail until the grass on the path turns to dirt and you see a small pond on your right which is bordered by a stone wall.

At the gap in the stone wall, turn to face 50 degrees onto a small path. From the gap in the wall, take 25 paces (50 steps). In the afternoon shadow of the grandest Pine tree the completion of the Love Birds Letterbox can be found nestled under rocks.
