MORE MEMORIES

Seven Falls was our favorite fall hike , a nice six mile hike along the Mattabesett Trail . This More Memories Series is a shortened hike, made into a loop for these two boxes ,but showing off our favorite stopping spot for a picnic along the way.
Chinese Wall , don’t you just love that name ?? I do , and do not know how it came to be named Chinese Wall , but just wait untill you walk along it and marvel at how huge it is . RTRW carved me a cute stamp to put up on the top , I call it The Chinese Happy House .

Park your car on Aircraft Road at the Oval Blue trail Mattabesett Sign This loop will take you north on the blue trail ,pass all side trails and return on the Blue yellow blaze Seven Falls Loop Trail back to the Blue trail and your car. There are a few ridge walks , so please be careful. You can walk through the woods off the ridge if you wish .

Enter the woods on the Blue Trail going northerly and enjoy the ups and downs Soon you will pass the Blue Yellow trail which you will be on when you return This part of the Matabesett Trail has several ridge walks A short one and a long one . You will know when you get to the Chinese Wall . !! Enjoy the walk along the base of the wall and then begin a short climb to the top . After you cross a long ridge walk and enter the woods again , you will come to a lovely little rock knoll in a pine grove . Stop and enjoy the small rock ledge on the north side of the trail . A boulder up on top sits behind a young 3 sister maple tree . In the back side you will find The Chinese Happy House . This is where we always had our picnic

Continue on the blue trail and when you come to the blue yellow trail intersection , take the blue yellow on the left , now going south. Pass through some laural and then a large rock ledge on the right . Stop at the next smaller ledge on the right where large trees are close to the trail . [today one is marked to be cut]. Behind the large tree is a young 3 sister tree and up on the ledge behind that, is a balancing small boulder, where in a cave and under rocks , you will find DAY DREAMING This stamp is for all who day dream this dream . It is also carved by RTRW.

Continue on the Blue Yellow Trail and soon reach the Blue Trail . Turn right down and travel back to your car .

This is not a long hike, but a nice one and I hope you enjoy it, as I share some more memories .

Smile
